The program
creative arts and social skills day program
This program is run by an art therapist and psychologist at Moi Clinic. A range of creative art activities and fun social activities will be provided. There will be morning tea and lunch breaks with lots of yummy foods to share whilst children get to know one another. The aim of this program is to provide children with a safe space to meet others similar to them. The program fosters a place of belonging, kindness, compassion and acceptance as children are encouraged to share their special interests and to move and communicate in their own way. The art activities are a safe way to explore relationships and build friendships in a safe environment supported by clinicians.

Ages: Primary aged children.
Open to the public and those under NDIS.

Socialize through creative arts
Creative arts provide children with a space that is safe to socialize because children are able to get busy creating art whilst socializing with others in a way that is their preferred communication style.
Communication
Using arts as a medium encourages children to communication in their own preferred style. They can talk using arts, talk with their hands of be silent if they choose. The arts provide children with a social environment that can be adjusted to meet their needs.
